What If... Obama Is Really Going To Destroy America?
75
Even the most unbiased observer has to recognize that Barack Hussein Obama's rise to the Presidency was more than a little skewed. After all, in the primaries he went up against Hillary Clinton who was about as much of a "slam dunk" candidate as the Democrats have fielded for decades, and it was he who got the nomination. Then the GOP, in a staggering misstep, nominated a man who could almost have been Obama's grandfather at a time when the nation was looking for youthful energy and change.
There was more than enough talk around the water cooler when Obama began to surge in the public consciousness of the "messianic spirit" that he used to rally crowds in his favor. There is no doubt that he is a brilliant orator, but his other-worldly "anointed one" persona was so vivid that even McCain based campaign ads on it.
At this point, this Hub can go off on the tangent of discussing the Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to the Irish Saint Malachy but more likely written by Nostradamus, and the correlation with Pope Benedict XVI who is the last pontiff in the line before Petrus Romanus presides over the end of civilization: "the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible or fearsome Judge will judge his people..."
However, the direction of "keepin' it real" might better suit not alienating the secular reader, so let's do just that: "Let's keep it real."
Since Obama's nomination and election, the most prosperous country in the world has been devastated. Paul Volcker, the 81-year-old former chairman of the Federal Reserve said, "I don't remember any time, maybe even the Great Depression, when things went down quite so fast." Residential prices have never plummeted this much this quickly in the history of the nation, right from 1776 to the present day. Some of the century-old bulwarks of the country are shattered: General Motors, Chrysler, Lehman Brothers, the list grows by the day. Millions of Americans are homeless and that list is growing as well.
However, the Presidency of the "anointed one" has not just decimated the economic welfare of the country, but its very essence as a great democratic and free nation. As a lifelong American patriot (who happens to be a Canadian) I am profoundly offended by the sight of the President of the United States bowing to the Saudi king. I didn't take that as a denouement of Obama's "hidden Muslim" (as a Muslim who is not a slave need not bow to the Keeper Of The Great Holy Mosques), as much as I saw it in the words of the Washington Times editorial: "a shocking... protocol-breaking... display of fealty to a foreign potentate... befitting a king's subjects, not his peer."
Perhaps even worse is the cuddly handshake and warm words of friendship uttered yesterday with Hugo Chavez, a mad despot who has founded his power base on slapping America across the face. "Aww.. but now we're friends... isn't that nice?"
What's next? How about a fun afternoon of Holocaust denial and swastika wall painting with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Or maybe sharing some nice spicy kim chee from the same bowl as Kim Jong Il? (Watch out... he might be eying Bo's nice juicy hindquarters)...
Only the most naive person in the United States would consider that their President "could be friends" with these tyrants and autocrats. What is the basis for these friendships? If I start lobbing nuclear-capable missiles towards Alaska or Israel can I be your friend too, Barack?
Yet the polls maintain that America believes he's doing a fine job. Sure, we're all going broke and prostrating ourselves in deference to foreign thugs, but Obama's just so darn likeable!
Then again, sociopaths usually are.
I don't think the 44th President of the United States is a sociopath. Maybe Obama is a really nice guy with a very contorted bizarre Pollyannaish sense of economics and foreign statesmanship. Or maybe he's a cog in an invariable wheel of destiny which is leading us to a future that few can barely imagine, a world where America as a global power and an economic authority is nothing but a distant memory, and its people slide into the Third World morass of poverty and despair.
One thing I can assure you is that Obama is not the Anti-Christ. He's likely a really nice (but misguided) guy and doesn't have 666 etched into his skull.
But... that's about it.

I think you've rather let yourself down with this hub. From ignoring the fact that economy was plummeting irreversibly before he took office, to all the hypothetical stuff after your "What next?"
What if this is just like what befell Atlantis. What if he is the answer to the changing world for the better?
There is that FEAR Factor and I think it is really that you and others that FEAR things feel that you have no control and that scares the beegeebees out of you.
If this all happened before and God knows everything then I would be confident in God becasue he loves us....another topic altogether, but you get my drift!
Uh, not to go against your beliefs in Obama, but doesn't congress have a lot to do with what isn't being done in the White House. Obama has asked for things and yet they will not pass anything until they see it for themselves --so be it. BUT when he told them to come up with better ideas, they didn't and to my knowldege still haven't. A President can only do so much when people are so afraid of change!
So what you propose is to do a wrong to meet a wrong--kill them. Now what would more violence bring to the table?---More violence. The key to peace is understanding and to understand another's point of view is to BE KIND first.
The problem is that Iran is every bit as much 'entitled' to nuclear development as Israel which is armed to the teeth. Saudi, of course, is anti-Iran and friendly to the US over most issues except Israel.
Chavez has less blood on his hands than Obama's predecessor.
I'll step back and let others comment. I expect this hub will find lots of support, but didn't want to let it go unchallenged. Cheers!
I am with Paraglider and will wait for more comments.
i doubt his ability to do that, and to my own understanding he might be on the way to restoring America's image to a one time dignity and peace. just give him some time and chance. thats my opinion and not final.
...and please don't forget that fighting doesn't always bring an end to war, it rather infuriates it and add more fuel, therefore peace remains the king. don't stop or campaign againts Obama's peace process with middle......
Obama is doing the best that he can do under the circumstances he was given. Could you do better?
Also remember that the Media and the News stations have their own agendas.
Like I said, congrees gave him noi other ideas on how to fix things......What is he supposed to do--sit on his butt like the other president's have done or lie out his butthole like Bush did? Which is better--being up front or lying? I take the upfrong anyday!
BTW I did not vote for Obama, but now that he is in office, just maybe people like you should help him instead of complaining all the time.
We are not the Father of the world and we shouldn't have to be.
The problem with number 2: One man cannot do it by himslef and alot of contries have left us to do all the dirty work. Write your congressman/woman and write often. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. I don't think we should put our noses where they don't belong, you feel differently.
Why should terrorist supporters like Iran should be allowed nukes? They have proven over and over again that they cannot be trusted. They would use them. We are in Iraq to have a friend and soldiers on Iran's bolder to hold down the piece in the middle east.
Hal, You are right on, and there is 45% of the US people who feel the same, 45% who will totally disagree, and be very flaggerant about it, but cannot support their believes. And 10% that sit on the fence.
As for the economy, if the leaders of our country had not been telling us how bad the ecomony was, and if the congress would have down their job, the banks would not have had problems.
Now that the leaders are saying the economy is starting to pick up, (which it always does in the spring and summer any way, not by any of their doings) Obama can control so much of the economy by saying something about it.
I want to start a movement to vote out all of the existing legislator in 2010 and 2012. We need to take back our government. He has placed my children it so much debt, that it just makes me scream. I will try to help my children by either leaving them money, or making sure they graduate from college with the least amount of debt as possible so to help give my children a chance. I owe it to them because we are stealing their money now..
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Extraordinary times, made extraordinary by Bush and the Republicans, require extraordinary measures. We have never in our lives seen anything like it, and the solutions to it may yet be unknown. Nevertheless, something must be done. Nobody I know are happy at the bailouts. Hey, they did a crappy job and they should suffer the consequences, but the system that has been allowed to be constructed in this country, unfortunately, has too many things interconnected. If they were to fall, they are but the first domino in a long line. Who knows where the line of falling dominoes ends? I don't want to find out. Stop the first domino now. Fix the system later.
I did vote for Obama , mainly because I sincerely thought he would be a change from the old guard whom I have stopped trusting long ago. I will say this ,I still like him too . I am not too crazy about some of his choices for his cabinet . For starts they seem to have their problems paying taxes. And Napalitano this week just completely outraged me. I think she has already proven that she Is not fit for her position .
And also Bush got the ball rolling on all these bailouts , and Obama has kept the ball rolling. And he did Inherit a pile of shit ! I have been on this planet damn near half a century and I cannot recall at anytime a President that came Into office with a country In such turmoil . With the visits abroad some at Fox News might see a closet Muslim . I see a rookie politician who Is learning the Intricacies of engaging the world In political discourse . I will say this those tea parties were a groundswell of Americans who no longer feel that they have a voice In their own country . It was not just about taxes . There were Democrats there too ! In spite of what the NY Times or the LA Times might tell you.
Oh, one more thing Hal . I have been saying forever that all Incumbents need to be voted out . But the American voter can be pretty lazy , they see a name they recognize and they pencil them In . I say these are the folks tht helped us to the edge of the cliff, so why are we letting them continue wrecking us ?
To answer your challenging question, " What can we do to change the world NOW "; ....Not much...Instant change will always be resisted... look at the resistance generated by Obama's perception of socialist change...a resistance I whole-heartily agree with...
The Left has been working at social change since the 60's in a dramatic way, a way that has produced obvious results in the new millenium...through Academia, through the main stream media, through Hollywood film, and , most importantly, through social engineering constructed by codified law established by unelected liberal judges.
The cultural changes we are witnessing now have been slowly boiling in the pot for a long time. We have gone from a nation of rugged individualism, intellectually engaged, and non-hyphenated American citizens, to a society of litigious, woe-is-me, victims that look to government to take care of them from cradle to grave.
I commend you, Hal, on an excellent, provocative, and timely Hub. Just remember, its always the leader that takes the slings and arrows..... I've got your back...
I actually don't look to the government to take care of me. I simply expect them to not rob me.
Good piece. My husband would love this.
Your hub page has a strong tone. I didnt vote for hm but I think he is really trying his best to do the best he can.
I can't believe people who want socailistic change that Obama is trying to bring in. America has been great because it has been considered the land of opportunity. Under socialism this will not be the case. I am working on a capitalism-socialism hub, and it is taking a lot of homework to do. But basically, in socialstic country, they let capitalistic company do the work because capitalism is the only that makes money, then the government heavily taxes, i.e. 40-70% for all of the social programs thay have out there. It takes big government to run this, so by the time the big government pays it bills, the money is mostly gone, and not much ends up in the programs it was meant for. We already have over 51% of the people in the United states employed by the government. How much more can the tax generating base can support? So less than 50% of the population has to work and generate the tax for the rest of the country to live off from, and this is not including the people on welfare. This is the main thing that pisses me off.
With a larger socialistic government, some of the base tax generating businesses will be gone, so the tax burden lays on the other portion. I.e. 40% of the people will have to provide for everyone?
With a smaller government, i.e. 25% of people employed by the government, then 75% of the people will be working in tax generating business. This lower the rates of taxes by at least one half, and mathamatically, it could be down to one quarter.
Now this will cause growth and prosperity. It will not have the parisidical government syphoning the money and burdening society. And in a righteouse society, it will take care of the poor, the needy and the elderly. The corporation, as of old, could maintain health insurance on retired employees, we would not need the poorly ran medicare system.
Keep on Hubbing.
You are right on!
He good at saying what the people want to hear.
Thanks for helping us United Staters out.
Keep on Hubbing!
Really interesting, I am very disturbed with his bowing to Arabs and his handshakes with ruthless power hungry dictators. He does not represent me.
obama is not a good president or man at all
Hal, All that money talk means absolutely nothing if congress doesn't pass it. Stop blowing smoke around.
My Lady G.
What?
Congress are just too eager to pass the bills for spending the money. They have showed it twice, now. And the treasury spends the money with out needing any congressional approval.
No smoke.
Keep on Hubbing.
Who was it that said, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?"
When I read your statement, "We jail anyone who bounces a $100 check at WalMart,...." I realized that you and I are not living in the same country. I have never heard of anyone being jailed for a bounced check in the USA. Blatantly false statements do nothing to support your arguments but they do create questions about your perception of the world in which you live. They also cause erroneous impressions about life in the USA in the minds of your readers living in other countries.
I understand that your viewpoint is biased by the atrocities you have witnessed but the President’s role is not to be your avenger. I will judge his administration by his real and meaningful actions and not by his symbolic ones.
Q.
Thanks for quoting the law to me. I still have never heard of anyone jailed for a bounced check but that is my issue and not yours. Do doubt you have.
Whether Obama's actions actually result in global instability is something we will have to wait to see.
Q.
A month ago didn't the former CEO resign, and now add this on top. Someone is cooking some books. I agree this is going to take a while but it is going to hit the fan again. Where Mr. Barney Frank and the gang of ten this time! Isn't it his job to over see this? Let's fire him when this unfolds again!
Keep on hubbing!
Great post.
Quilligrapher, rather than wait and see what Obama's actions lead to, think we can study some history and try to avert any coming disasters? This is the most irresponsible thing I hear people saying everywhere..."It's not fair to judge Obama's policies yet, we must give him time". No! We can look at foriegn polcy history, and economic history, as well, and act on what is likely to happen, before we are in the crapper.
Hal, I could not agree with you more.Since we have never been sold out at the highest office before in out history, is anyone proposing a next step?
I always wonder why US right wingers say they live in the best country in the world, have the best government etc etc and yet don't trust the federal government with anything.
I wonder even more about a Canadian who is so obsessed with US issues. I mean why should you care? You have a decent country with universal health care and moderate welfare. The gun nuts are few and far between (and mostly visitors at that). Why not relax and get some pleasure from life instead of wallowing in fear and hatred (and generating boat loads of it)?
I would love to know your family history and background just to understand how people like you get made. Some government might be able intervene and save us all.
why push everything on Obama? aren't you just pointing the finger?
I intend on reading the other comments on this Hub tonight. But I know one thing- You hit the nail right on the COMMUNIST, MARBLE HEAD.
Lady Guinevere:
You are right, to a degree, but you are wrong as well. First the right part. You said that we allow things we have no control over scares the beegeebees out of us. You also said, "What if he (Obama) is the answer, to changing the world for the better?" And you said that a President can only do so much when his people are so afraid of change. And finally, you said "I don't feel we should put our noses where they don't belong."
We allow things we have no control over to scare the beegeebees out of us: Yes- you are totally right. The problem is, that when it comes to our government, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN CONTROL. It is a government OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people. So when the government, INCLUDING a President who bows to Arab Terrorist Kings, when they start doing whatever the hell they choose, then I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. They are NOT elected into office to go to the enemies of America and bow down, and have cups of tea with the enemy, and talk Tiger Woods. They are NOT elected to gain control over our Private sector, to BUY OUT companies who are in trouble, to start a GOVERNMENT health care program, or to grab control over our internet and media services. That is NOT a government but a dictatorship.
"What if Obama is the answer to changing the world for the better?" But you need to wake up and admit the truth sweetie. Obama has been a DISASTER for us so far. In his FIRST 6 MONTHS, President Obama and his administration have out-spent EVERY administration in America's history. We have spent almost 3 TRILLION in that time, and there is ANOTHER PROJECTED 4 TRILLION to be spent in the next several years. Do you know how much debt we had when he got into office? About 4 or 5 Trillion. We are at 9 Trillion RIGHT NOW. Obama's "future" and "change" is a DEAD AMERICA.
"A President can only do so much when his people are so afraid of change." WAKE UP! Of course we are afraid of the KIND of change he is instituting right now! We do NOT WANT a BIGGER, more POWERFUL government that costs THREE TIMES AS MUCH to FUND!! That kind of change, WILL mean FAR higher taxes, all across the nation, in every income range. TO give you an example- If our government were TWICE it's size, we would have to pay 100% more taxes, which would bring our federal withholdings each paycheck to about $40 for every $100 we earn. HELL NO!! I pay ALMOST $20 right now! The type of change we NEED, is for our Senators and Congressmen to realize that WE will KICK them OUT of office, unless they unify and GET RID OF every government agency, program or agenda that is WASTING money, or that is an UNNECESSARY program, and that would save HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS EACH YEAR ALONE. THOSE are the types of changes we need to start with, THEN we need to FOCUS on renewable energy, with someone at the helm who is NOT AN ADMITTED COMMUNIST. (Van Jones.)
"I don't feel we should put our noses where they don't belong." But sweetie, our noses BELONG IN GOVERNMENT. What our government does, IS OUR BUSINESS!! THAT is why they NEED OUR VOTE to get into office!! If we sit on our collective ASSES and allow the greedy, corrupt politicians in Washington do whatever they want, they will gain more and more power until we are unable to stop them, then it will be too late and our freedoms will be GONE. We who see the problems, are indeed afraid. And I for one am not going to just sit around while our freedoms are being written away by terrorists. (Anyone, ANYONE, who takes part, in making OR accepting laws that HURT our rights under the constitution, is a TERRORIST, and they are OUR enemies.)
Why the heck not?? Hal, maybe we should start a new country, with our own constitution. I think Antarctica is still up for grabs aint it??
barack obama is the first president in the united states of america, will destroy america in his hands in the first time in american hisstory
and a new 11 september in wight house

I think peace making process requires some risks. Obama is really in trouble having this heavy legacy from Bush!!!
